Whoa we’re halfway there#

And until like the last week of the month I hadn’t gotten anything done at all.

June is going to be my lowest “scoring” month of the year (so far), only completing three things.

Agrocola#

I spent a significant portion of the month working on one specific project that encompassed more than just the painting - working on the camera and lighting set up, filming, uploading the filming, editing, recording VO. All told, it was probably in the realm of 22 to 25 work-hours across 19 days. Which doesn’t sound like a lot but that’s squeezed into lunch breaks, late nights, and an hour or two here and there on the weekend. Or; all my “normal” painting time.

Was it worth it? Sure. I’ve very happy with how it turned out, learned some new techniques, and had fun. Though I’m pretty sure having to paint with a light directly in my face in order to accomidate the overhead camera set up gave me neck pain I’m still recovering from.

Gin & juice#

The next thing I finished isn’t actually a table top miniature so recording it in The Chart is a little ambigious but I printed and painted a dog statue for my father as a belated Father’s Day present (hi dad).

I do wish I had some more time on this one, but was under the gun due to the holiday. I’d like to experiment with the white portions to give them more depth, but didn’t want to “test in production” as I was trying to finish the model on time.

Not really much to this one. Painted to look like a dog. It looks like said dog. Dog dog dog.

Year of the rat#

The only other thing painted was a classic Kitchen Table Skaven. You know the kind. Your kid wants to paint miniatures, so you grab a Skaven Clanrat because if you’re going to paint something in a poorly lit location with limited paints and brushes, a Clanrat can look like garbage and still be on theme.

This Kitchen Table Skaven thing is also why I can never find all my Clanrats in one place. They’re scattered to the winds across every surface in my house.

Survey says#

Like I mentioned, these are my lowest numbers to date. I’ve already said a good portion of it was due to the effort in creating the War Rig multimedia blitz, but also I was out of state for ten days so there’s lots of blame to go around.

The paltry monthly completion chart:

(As far as I could tell from the rules, War Rigs don’t actually cost any points in game, so that was left blank. But with the 3rd edition rules threatening us with a good time who knows if that’ll change going forward.)

Also not much change in Year To Date, considering it was only 5 completed points and less that $5 added.

I really only added Gaslands models to this chart for the sake of this month, because ntohing else changed. Now I’ve finished as many Gaslands models as 40k models.

Nothing changed here. Not adding Gaslands because it wouldn’t be visable on the chart thanks to Blood Bowl.

My carry-forward looks pretty familiar at this point. One day I’ll finish that Tau Commander/Devilfish/etc etc. To be fair, the Troll is very very close to being finished. I just knew I wouldn’t have the time to do the last 3 or so steps at a level I find acceptable before the end of the month. But then The Skablins with totally, completely be finished. (Except for the tokens, the coins, etc etc.)

The stand is a little diorama stand that was 3d printed for Necromunda models I intend to use for photography, similar to the desert wasteland base I made for Gaslands photography. It looks fun to paint, but while I’ve not even finished priming it yet it is very far down on my priority list so it might be a while.

The end of June means 6 months down, 6 months to go, 41 models painted, zero money down. I suppose that gives us a goal now - will the next 6 months be over or under 41 models? Make your bets now, the window is closing.
